Land of Make Believe

Welcome to the world of make believe.

There is a lot of information out in the world, and while you can educate yourself by doing your research, most of us don't take the time to do so. One challenge is that much of the information, stories or projects in or about Maine's clam fishery are based in myth, beliefs and opinions that ignore science and reality. And it's not just your average knuckle-dragger who's guilty of spreading misinformation these days! It's being spread and perpetuated by educators, organizations, media, regulators and others who should know better. The MCA's 'Land of Make Believe' focuses on articles that have no basis's for truth; no relevant research, facts, or science behind them.

The Maine Clammers Association's main priority is to educate people and give them access to the most up to date and accurate information available that can be used to help sustain and enhance Maines shellfish industry.
In our blog, you'll find links to some of these examples of misinformation, and the reasons why they are false and misleading.
